Real Madrid jittery over Man City clash without Ronaldo

Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid is currently on a marathon to help Cristiano Ronaldo recover fully and be fit for Manchester City clash on Tuesday.

This is contrary to Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane’s claim that Ronaldo’s injury poses no threat to his appearance for the upcoming match.

Zidane believes in Ronaldo’s fitness after the Portuguese was seen limping off the pitch before the end of Madrid’s 3-0 win over Villarreal.

Ronaldo came off moments before the final whistle after falling awkwardly, and Madrid had already used their three substitutions.

“He had a scare and that’s why he left the pitch.

“He was worried and he wanted to know what had happened immediately.

“But in the end it’s just a scare,” Zidane had told a press conference.

“He felt something right at the end, I can’t say anything more about it but it was more of a scare than something serious.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a thigh muscle injury, but Real Madrid have given no indication if he will be fit for their Champions League clash with Manchester City.

The 31-year-old came off the pitch moments before the final whistle.

That was during Madrid’s 3-0 Primera Division victory over Villarreal on Wednesday night after falling awkwardly.

Madrid face a trip to Rayo Vallecano on Saturday before Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first-leg clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Previously, Ronaldo had played every football minute of every league game this season for Los Blancos.

However, there were fears he could miss some of the title run-in.

Ronaldo posted on Instagram that everything was “All good” on Thursday, but a statement from Madrid read:

“Following tests carried out today on Cristiano Ronaldo in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscle strain in his right thigh.

His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

The former Manchester United player has scored 47 goals in 44 games for his club this season.

Ronaldo had played every minute of every league game this season and Zidane admitted the player could benefit from resting more.
