CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LAST 16: Barcelona 3-0 Chelsea (4-1 Aggre)

Champions League Last 16 – Leo Messi and Ousmane Dembele scored 3 great goals as the Catalan giants dumped Chelsea out of UEFA Champions League with a 3-0 win emphatic win at Camp Nou, to sail into quarter-finals of the competition.

Messi struck twice in Barcelona’s thumping defeat of Chelsea to bring up his 100th goal in the competition.

Messi opened the scoring in the third minute at Camp Nou, followed by a nice drive by Dembele, and later, Messi sealed it up with another fine finish through the legs of Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, to wrap up the match with a 3-0 win.

The Argentina superstar also set up Ousmane Dembele’s first Champions League goal as Ernesto Valverde’s men completely outplayed their Premier League visitors.

Lionel Messi became only the second player to score 100 Champions League goals with a double against Chelsea at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Messi started the game on 98 goals in the competition but opened the scoring in the third minute, rifling through the legs of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from a tight angle.

The strike, which came after 128 seconds of the game, was the fastest Messi has ever scored for either club or country.

Cristiano Ronaldo is only other player that have reached 100 goals in the competition (117 in total)  however, Messi reached his century in 123 appearances, while Ronaldo needed 137 matches to achieve that great feat.

In his reaction, Chelsea Coach Conte told BT Sport: ‘”I think tonight and in these two legs Messi made the difference. As you know very well we are talking about the best player in the world,”.

“I think that over the two legs we were a bit unlucky. We hit the post four times and in our best moments they scored.

“They were very, very clinical and tonight I think we created many chances but we didn’t take them.”

“We are talking about a player who every season finishes with 60 goals and assists,” he continued.

“We are talking about not a top player but a super top player. He made the difference.

“But, at the same time, we have no regrets. I must be pleased for the commitment of my players. I am very proud because they gave everything tonight and maybe we didn’t deserve to lose 3-0.”
