2017 NBA FINALS –
WARRIORS AWAIT! CAVS LOOKING TO CLOSE OUT CELTICS IN GAME 5 TO MAKE 3RD CONSECUTIVE FINALS REMATCH!!
By Michael D. Kilgore Sr.
As this basketball Fairy tale story unfolds the stage is set for a 3rd consecutive NBA Finals rematch between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors, winners of the 2015 match up was unable to defend their title the following year in 2016. Cleveland had got the better off them after the warriors put up an historic season for most wins.
LeBron James has his Cavs team 1 win away from clinching a 2017 Finals birth, which would be his 7th straight trip to the Finals with two different teams a feat no player has accomplished.
Two teams meeting in the NBA Finals three consecutive years has never happened in NBA history. We have seen many rematches, of most recent however it’s been 19 years Since Jordan and his Bulls Met the Utah Jazz in 1997 and 1998. The Lakers and Celtics met 7 times between 1959 and 1969 and have met 12 times in total. Not once did the teams ever make three straight appearances.
This year as the Cavs look to capture a victory in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals we look ahead to see a Title Tie Breaker and a story of legends unfolding. Two of the greatest teams in NBA history going head to head in the Finals 3 straight times is not only a once in a lifetime event, it may never happen again.
